June/ July

Where has the summer gone...Can't believe July is almost over.

In June, we attended our friends Jared and Kathleen's wedding in Columbus, Nebraska. We had a great time and Kamryn got to spend the night with Gramma. The following day we attended a parade, and saw Wes's sister Mary do her flag thing for the first time. Also in June, I had to attend training for a week in Jeff City, this left Wes to fend for himself with Kamryn. We attended the Waterfest in Excelsior. It was a hot one! Kamryn was able to participate in a few games, but her favorite was the bounce house. Work continued on the kitchen with the tiling of the backsplash and flooring.

July: Kamryn enjoyed the fireworks on the Fourth. She wasn't the least bit scared. We attended the annual get together in Holt with my family on Saturday, our friends Megan and Angie's bbq on Sunday, and a pool party on that Monday with my girlfriends and the kiddos. WES had a major milestone this month: HE TURNED 30 ON THE 14TH! Of course, we had a party to celebrate with bbq, washers, and beer pong. The following weekend, we went camping at Smithville with Wes's family. We did a little boating and biking, but our stay was cut short when Kamryn got sick. She started running a 103 temp that continued for 4 days! After two trips to urgent care, they determined it was a UTI or bladder infection. Seems like the antibiotics are working. Wes finished up with summer school, which gives my mom a break for a few weeks until school starts back up. Thanks Mom for all you do!

Stay posted for updated pics from this summer.

April / May

APRIL - We went to Omaha for Easter weekend. Took Kamryn to the Henry Doorly Zoo on Saturday and stayed at the Comfort Inn where Kamryn went swimming. Sunday we spent Easter with Wes's Mom and family. Kamryn did an Egg hunt with the two neighbor boys. Wes and I started our slow pitch softball season. We play Tuesdays, and Wes plays Thursdays. For some reason, the rest of April is a blur probably because I waited so long to update this. LOL.

MAY - Summer is officially here and that means we've been working in the yard, planting flowers and redoing our front landscaping. Kamryn has been having tons of fun in the water (pool and sprinkler). On Memorial Day we went to our first Royals game of the year with my friends. The game wasn't too exciting (Royals lost big time) but the new stadium was a site to see.

March

March started off with yet another birthday celebration...My grandma's 83rd (3/12) and a delayed celebration for Sister-in-law Ann's bday (2/17) in Excelsior. The weather warmed up and we got the bikes out and took Kamryn for her first ride in the bike trailer. She loved it and surprisingly didn't try to crawl out. Wes finished up the cabinets, countertops, and lighting in the kitchen. It's getting there...

February

February was filled with Birthday Celebrations...Made a trip to Omaha during the first of February for Josh's (Wes's brother) b-day. We met his girlfriend, Angie, for the first time. They make a really cute couple. The next weekend we attended nephew Rylan & niece Norah's b-day party in Maryville. They turned 4 and 2. The following weekend it was my sisters Robyn and Megan, and grandpa Delbert's bday celebration in Excelsior. And ended the month with Wes's Mom's 50th b-day party in Omaha.

Kamryn had her first meeting with the Parents as Teachers (PAT) lady. She said that Kamryn was right on track developmentally. Work continued on the kitchen. Finished drywalling, sanding, and painting the walls and ceiling. Stay tuned for updated pictures. My college friend Amber and her son Jack were down for a day in February as well. Kamryn and Jack had a lot of fun playing together. Our trip to El Maguey was an adventure, especially with 2 toddlers that hadn't had naps. We got some snow the last of February and Kamryn got to experience her first time playing in the snow. All she wanted to do was eat it (maybe because her daddy showed her how). She was pretty upset when we had to go inside though.

January

Finally updating this thing...
January was cold and warm and then cold again. During one of the nice days we took Kamryn to the park. She thought she was a big kid...trying to climb up the chain ladder thingy. Here are a few pics.

Also in January, Kamryn got to stay with her Gramma and Granpa Olson and Aunt Mary for 3 long days in Omaha. Seems she became pretty attached to the giant Tigger while there. The thing is bigger than her and she wanted to carry it around. It was sure quiet around the house without her. We missed her and didn't know what to do with ourselves. They had a good time with her and even mentioned doing it again sometime.

We decided to remodel our kitchen and started that towards the end of Janaury. We plan on doing new cabinets, countertops, and flooring. We are going to hire someone to knock part of the wall down between the kitchen and living room. I have a feeling it will be a few months before it is all complete though. We are already tired of living with a messy house. See below. Can't wait to post the finished product.

JANUARY BIRTHDAYS
  • Nephew Will is now 4 years old!
  • Wes's Sister Erin is 12 years old (I think)?
  • Wes's Sister Mary is 17 years old!
  • Amber's (college friend) son Jack turned 2!
  • Kadie's (college friend) son Avery turned 2!

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas! Kamryn had a lot of fun this year. By the time we had a our last get together she was a pro at opening gifts. The weekend before we had Christmas with my family and got to see my cousin Joe, wife Tiffany, and children Tyson and Joselyn who live in Maine. It's the only time of year we see them. Kamryn and Joselyn had fun playing together. Christmas Eve we went to church for the candlight service. It was nice and Kamryn was quiet through most of it. Christmas morning we spent at home and later that day went to my parents. The day after Christmas we traveled to Maryville for Christmas with Wes's Dad and family. The next day it was off to Omaha for Christmas with Wes's Mom and family. Sunday we had Christmas at Wes's Grandmas. The following weekend we did Christmas/New Year's with Wes's Dad's family.

Surprise 60th

My Dad's 60th Birthday was in November. The family threw him a surprise party. The Kids, Grand kids, my Dad's brother and sisters, Mom, Uncle Gary, Grandma and Delbert all gathered together to celebrate. We put together a slide show for him. He received plenty of gag gifts including; an ear amplifier, prunes, ensure, and others I can't remember. He also got some nice gifts as well. We had a great time!
